Privacy Policy

Sifted is built on a simple belief: what's on your phone is yours. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and how we handle your data.

What Sifted does

Sifted accesses your Photos library to detect new screenshots, reads the text and visual content of those screenshots using on-device processing and AI, and presents the results in an inbox with suggested actions. You can optionally enable a daily digest notification that summarises your screenshots.

Photos access

Sifted requests full Photos access because iOS does not provide a screenshots-only permission. We only process images that appear to be screenshots — we do not read, store, or transmit any other photos in your library.

Screenshot images are sent to third-party AI services (described below) for classification. They are not stored by Sifted on any server. The original images remain on your device in your Photos library at all times.

AI processing

To understand what's in your screenshots, Sifted sends images and extracted text to the following AI providers:

Google Gemini — our primary AI model. Google processes your data under their API terms and does not use API data to train models. Google AI Terms

Data sent to these services is used only to classify and understand the content of your screenshots in real time. It is not stored or used for any other purpose.

Data stored on your device

Sifted stores the following data locally on your device only:

Classification results (triage category, suggested action, detected entities)
Small thumbnail images of your screenshots for display in the app
Your app preferences and settings

This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and is not transmitted to Sifted or any third party.

Usage analytics

Sifted uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage data — things like how often scans are run, which features are used, and whether actions are taken on items. This data contains no personally identifiable information and no content from your screenshots. You can opt out of analytics at any time in Settings.

Notifications

If you enable the daily digest, Sifted will send you a local push notification at your chosen time. Notification content is generated on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

Reminders and Calendar

If you use the Reminders or Calendar features, Sifted requests access to create items in Apple Reminders and Calendar on your behalf. This data is managed by Apple and subject to their privacy practices.

Children's privacy

Sifted is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
